Thank You for a Great Convention

Thank you to everyone who attended the 125th annual SDNA convention in Pierre on June 1&2. Your participation made it a great success!

We heard from terrific speakers, including Kevin Slimp, Mary Beth Kremer, Steve Buttry, David Clausen and John Papendick. We were honored to have NNA President Jerry Tidwell and U.S. Senator John Thune address the convention.

We raised more than $2,100 in the first SDNA Silent Auction. Proceeds will go to the SDNA Building Fund. Thank you to everyone who participated in the auction through donations and bidding.

Bill Krikac, publisher of the Clark County Courier, was elected 2007-08 president at the convention. He succeeds Tim Huether, publisher of the Bennett County Booster. Other board members elected at the convention: first vice president - Mark Roby of Watertown Public Opinion, second vice president - Hollie Stalder of the Lawrence County Journal, third vice president - Doug Card of the Britton Journal, director - Gary Wood of the Yankton Daily Press & Dakotan, director - Lucy Halverson of the Lyman County Herald, and immediate past president - Tim Huether.

The Hipple family of Pierre, longtime publishers of the Pierre Capital Journal, were honored with a Distinguished Service Award.
